Prior to Marathon, Cadence grew up on the outskirts of Baltimore where the suburbs were slowly deteriorating into slums. She was raised by her mother, Diana with her younger brother, Ethan. Her father skipped out while she was but two years old and her mother pregnant with her brother, he has never contacted them since. It was her brother's overdose on heroin that spurred her into joining the police force when she was in her early twenties and since then has dedicated her life to upholding justing in a way that she believed might spare others the misfortune that had befallen her small family.
Pragmatic, driven, and focused, Cadence excelled in the academy and all subsequent training. After three years of patrol duty, she stepped into the line of vice and has for eight years been a detective. The last big case she had been working, regarding an extensive prostitution ring, had been the one that got her exiled to Florida.
Betrayed by her partner, Detective Fox was relocated from the grimy streets of Baltimore to sun-drenched Marathon shortly before making a bust on an eight month long undercover sting operation. While the official report cited a concern for her well being, the truth of the matter was that her superiors wanted her out of the picture before they themselves were exposed.
She was sent to this tourist trap convinced that she would be relegated to patrol duty once more and as such regards the place with marked bitterness. Her initial reservations about being here have been somewhat cast aside in light of new developments on a human trafficking case she is currently working.
